HE Interrupted the Program

3/14/2025

“What’s he doing?, was the first thought that crossed my mind as the man interrupted my introduction to the “Revelation Song”. My co-leader Gary Ray and I were leading worship at the High Ground Men’s Bible/Ski retreat. We invited this man to join us in leading the song, but as I was introducing it, he broke in, admonishing the group to “really worship” and not just sing. A bit flustered, I started the song and as we were singing, Jeff Kemp, former NFL quarterback and one of our speakers, jumped up on the platform and interrupted us. “Men”, he said, “God is here! Let’s all get on our knees and worship as Rick and Gary sing”.
Now, I’m not the smartest guy around, but I sensed God was doing something very special! Putting my immediate frustration aside, Gary and I continued singing as over 100 men worshipped our living God on their knees in adoration! What a blessing!
Does God ever interrupt “our program”? I’m thinking of the prayer meeting on the day of Pentecost. Or the Asbury college revivals, when God stepped in and threw the program out the window (I wonder if any professors were upset about their classes being cancelled and missed the blessing?). How should we respond, and what might be the precursor for such “interruptions”? Are we praying for and willing to embrace God’s “interruptions”?

February Happenings:
  1. We hosted our annual prayer and dinner time for evangelical pastors and their wives from Gunnison, Crested Butte, and Lake City. What a blessing as pastors from 8 churches attended. We felt led to start this 16 years ago and have seen wonderful unity grow.
  2. Our Mountain Top chapel services continue strong with 35-45 attending each week. Our ski area Bible study continues to attract new ski instructors and lift operators.
  3. Our Saturday Night Worship group just finished a 6-week study on the first 6 chapters of Daniel. What a blessed example Daniel and his friends are to us!

Family: The High Ground conference overlaps our granddaughter Kailani’s birthday, so we were able to join her 6th birthday party. A special blessing was to hear her learning to pray! Every Sunday before I leave for the chapel, we have a “zoom” call with all our family from London to Los Angeles. What a joy to see each one, each week!

Upcoming: Lord willing:
  1. March 8: San Diego: Sharing at the Celebration of Life for Milt Hughes, the man God used to bring me to Jesus in 1969. Milt and Ruth have done international student ministry for many years up through his passing at age 94! Ruth is continuing their work. Please pray for her.
  2. March 31: Colorado Springs “Thank You” Dinner. Mimi’s 7133 N. Academy Blvd, 6 pm.
  3. April 5: “Thank you” Lunch: Edmond OK: Johnnies Hamburgers 33, 33rd St.
  4. April 6-9: Guthrie OK: Revival services at Abell Community Church.
  5. May 4th: Palm Desert CA: Desert Springs Church
  6. May 18: Livermore CO Community Church
  7. May 19: “Thank You” Lunch: Loveland CO (TBD)
  8. May 25: Pitkin CO Community Church
  9. June 1: Tin Cup CO Community Church
  10. July 10-13: Gunnison CO: Chaplain at Cattlemen’s Days Rodeo and Rodeo Church Service
  11. July 15: Dallas TX: “Thank You” Dinner (TBD)
  12. July 20-23: Bentonia MS: Hebron Baptist Church Revival Services
  13. September 7: Tin Cup Community Church
  14. September 28: Pitkin Community Church

Finances:
The Lord graciously continues to provide for every need as we assist missionaries with medical expenses, pastors of small churches, and missionary widows. Your prayers and investment in His work is paying many dividends in His Kingdom! Thank You!

Fire and Police New Testaments: We continue to receive requests for testaments from chaplains around the country and send them without charge, thanks to your generous support!

Prayer Requests: Please pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit as we share locally and around the country. Please pray for health and safety as we travel. Please pray for the families of Milt Hughes and Calvin Armstrong. Calvin worked with us in the 70’s and went on to be a football coach and director of the men’s ministry for his denomination in S. California. His wife Jean passed into glory recently. Please pray for our missionary Naomi and Jeanette who are fighting cancer. THANK YOU!

To God be the glory, great things He has done, and is doing! Rick and Melva
