In High school I had the privilege of singing in a few musicals, one of which was “Oliver”. I still remember the song, “Where is love”. It’s a somewhat haunting wish by young Oliver to find someone who would truly care about him. As we travel around the country, we find many with the same desire, to find someone who will truly love them. Oliver goes on to ask, “Does it fall from skies above?”, Is that person hiding, must I travel far and wide to find them? Sadly, many are “Looking for love in all the wrong places”. We look to parties, harmful relationships, etc, to find someone who will fill our need for real love. And even sadder, some lose hope of ever finding that someone.
The Bible tells us there is someone who truly loves us, someone who really cares about us. And, in a sense, this love does “fall from skies above”. Jesus told us that God-the-Father loves us so much that He sent His only Son to save us. He showed His love for us was real by dying for us even though we are sinners. And that He rose from the dead and calls us to enter into His love. Wow! There’s another aspect to Oliver’s search for love that applies to us as well. He did experience a taste of real love through a few folks who came into his life. It is our privilege to show and tell others where true love can be found! Special Notice: As most of you know, I married far above myself when I married Melva almost 55 years ago! She was and is my true valentine. She shows me God’s love every day! I am truly the most blessed husband and father! January Highlights: Ski Area: On New Years Eve I prayed with our ski school staff before we skied down in our annual torchlight parade. The Lord has allowed me to do this for over 45 years! Our Mountain Top Chapel and ski area Bible study are going well. One new employee shared how he had been concerned if he would find Christian fellowship on the mountain and then saw our sign! I’m blessed to have a couple of ski instructors who are interested in outdoor ministry helping out! Caedmon led the chapel service this week and Chris will lead next week’s Bible study! Saturday Night Worship: We had the privilege of baptizing 3 young people in a wonderful night of worship! I finished filling the pulpit for New Song Church and began teaching a new introductory Christian Theology class. We are seeing a fresh anointing on our Saturday Night Worship Services! Please Pray for These Upcoming Opportunities:
Family: Our daughter-in-law Sara starts a new job in Menifee CA. It’s a virtual one which allows her to be at home with our granddaughters Elizabeth and Sydney and our son Tim. Our son Steve (wife Annie, grandchildren Samuel and Abigail) has begun his new role as associate pastor/worship leader at their church in Glendale CA and Annie stays busy teaching school. Rebekah and Nick (granddaughter Kailani) are busy with their restaurant in Edwards CO, and Stephen and Joy (granddaughters Hannah and Bethan) are seeing new life in their church in London England! 1st Responder New Testaments and Devotionals: Our updated totals for 2025 were 1,280 fire and police daily devotionals as well as 1,700 fire and police New Testaments sent out free of charge around the world! The publisher has run out of firefighter New Testaments until mid-March but we already have requests waiting! Praise the Lord! 2025 Finances: Because of your faithful support undergirding us, our entire 2025 Saturday Night Worship Service offering of $57,000 went to missionaries, missionary widows, and small church pastors. In addition, generous donors allowed us to distribute over $25,000 to families in need. A special blessing was helping a Bible Church in Utah build additional Sunday School classrooms to teach new families, many former Mormons, who have come to them seeking the truth. They all send thanks to God for you! Prayer Requests: Please pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit as we share His wonderful message of love! Please pray for Melva as she still struggles adjusting to her CPAP machine. She also would appreciate prayer as she is experiencing some pain in one of her legs. Thank You! Your prayers truly keep us going. By His grace and to His glory, Rick and Melva Comments are closed.
