"I will enter His gates with Thanksgiving in my heart; I will enter His courts with praise!" This wonderful scripture song, based on Psalm 100:4, is one we sing during our Saturday Night Worship. And rightfully so! Each morning begins a new day He has prepared for us. How right it is to pause and reflect on His grace and goodness. Melva and I will look at a sunset and marvel at the greatness of God. As our friend, Dr. Bill Bennett, used to say:
"I'm too blessed to be depressed, too anointed to be disappointed, too chosen to be frozen, and have more to shout about than pout about!" What have you to be thankful for today? Your salvation, family, health...? October Happenings: The Lord continues to open opportunities to share His love! Our Saturday Night Worship group packed 129 shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child (a new record for our small congregation!). One man hand-painted over 120 small pictures, a lady crocheted 120 mini-wreaths, others wrote notes to include. We've heard heartwarming testimonies of children who had received the shoeboxes. For some it was their only Christmas present, and they cherished each item. They even kept the box to hold their keepsakes. And of course, a children's gospel booklet goes in each one. *We just received word that thieves broke into Joy and Stephen's church building in London and stole the shoe boxes they had packed! Please pray as they try to replace them. At the end of October, we shared at Rocky Mountain Chapel outside of Cripple Creek CO. We've loved ministering to that growing church family for over 40 years and they graciously support us in prayer and giving. Lately, we've had the privilege of sharing at New Song, a church God used us to "accidentally" start almost 50 years ago. They are currently between pastors. I will be filling their pulpit most Sundays till the end of the year. Please pray they will find the man God has chosen to be their pastor. Gunnison Living Center: Melva goes every month to the nursing home to help the residents make crafts. In October, I had the privilege of filling in twice as their "Bingo" caller. Afterwards, we were able to visit and pray with residents. On Saturday nights we call residents and sing their favorite hymns. 1st Responder New Testaments and Devotionals: Requests for New Testaments and devotionals continue to come in from around the country! It's a case of one chaplain telling another about these powerful tools. Following the attack on the Mormon facility in Michigan, one of the Critical Incident counsellors requested New Testaments for the responders. Your support allows us to provide these! Family: We've been excited to hear how two of our grandchildren, Samuel and Elizabeth are growing in their new faith in Jesus! Samuel has almost finished his fourth time through his children's Action Bible. Yea Jesus! Lord willing, we will all gather in Hawaii next summer on Melva's home island of Kauai. Melva is slowly acclimating to her CPAP machine, and my planter fasciitis is slowly subsiding, thanks for your continued prayers! Upcoming: Lord willing, we will share at Abell Community Church near Guthrie OK November 16- 1 9 and then focus on local ministry. I start teaching skiing Thanksgiving weekend, start the Bible studies on the mountain, and the mountaintop chapel services. Finances: All these wonderful opportunities have stretched our budget but we're confident our Lord will provide. We've been working on an online giving option in response to your requests, almost there! Videos: During COVID we started sending out video links to our weekly in town and out of town services. Folks asked us to continue, and the Lord seems to be using them. We email the link and all you do is click on it to watch. If you would like to be on the list to receive the link just let us know. Prayer Requests: Please pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit as we share locally and out of town. Please pray for New Song Church to discover the pastor He has chosen for them. Please pray for Melva's continued adapting to the CPAP machine and my planter fasciitis to be completely healed. We are soooo grateful for each of you! What a wonderful God we serve!
