“For who has despised the day of small things?” (Zechariah 4:10a). Over the past couple of months Melva and I have had the privilege of sharing with several small church families. What a blessing! To worship our Lord outside of Guthrie OK, and in Livermore, Pitkin, and Tin Cup Colorado. To join with faithful saints who have poured their lives into harvest fields where megachurches don’t exist. Two of the churches are “summer only,” one inaccessible because of snow in the winter, the other with a winter population of less than 50. Still, they reach out to summer residents and visitors with up to a hundred attending weekly. Lives are being changed for Jesus in each of these churches!
One day, early in our ministry, I was sharing with a Christian college professor who had attended an evangelical seminary. I told him how we were being asked to preach in small towns without pastors. “Rick,” he said, “that upsets me! Because we have enough men graduating each year from my seminary to pastor every pastor-less church in Western Colorado. But it seems they’re all waiting to be called to 1st Baptist Dallas.” In other words, a lot of folks miss the opportunity to have an impact for Jesus in small towns, waiting instead for large churches with large congregations and large budgets. At that time Melva and I had no formal training or financial support, only a willingness to go. Today, each of those small towns have Christ-centered churches, and some send up to 80 % of their offerings to missions around the world! May God help us not to miss the opportunity to see Him do big things through small churches! 1st Responder New Testaments and Devotionals: By the grace of God, we continue to receive requests from chaplains across the United States and this month we were able to send several hundred to chaplains in Canada! Thank you again for your prayers and support as we provide these free of charge so that they can get into the hands of men and women who risk their lives for us! Summer Intern: Dalton Stuart, a student at Southern Seminary in Louisville, has joined us in June and July. Dalton is from Alabama and has already jumped in, visiting some of our “Senior Saints” as well as other responsibilities. Our RBM mission statement is “Win One-Train One-Send One.” The reason I went back to college and seminary many years ago was because I sensed God directing me to prepare workers for His service. Dalton is a wonderful part of that! Upcoming: Please pray for the Holy Spirit’s anointing as we share!
Family: We had two quick but wonderful trips to Edwards CO to watch our granddaughter Kailani perform in her school plays and graduate from kindergarten. Our granddaughter Hannah in London excelled in her exams at school and is progressing in High School! Finances: We want to send out a huge “Thank You” to each of you for your faithful prayers and financial support. Every time we send out cases of New Testaments, every time we share in churches and in the community, and each time we support Christian workers near and far, you are an integral part of it. We pray over every support envelope that comes in, asking the Lord to bless you and your family. Prayer Requests: Please pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit as we share the wonderful news of Jesus! Please pray that I will have wisdom as to what to share in each service. Please pray for Dalton as he assists as well as preaches in Gunnison (June 21st), Pitkin (July 6), that the Holy Spirit will fill and anoint him. Please pray for our family that we may all grow closer to Jesus and each other. Thank you! And now, may the God of hope grant you all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope through the power of the Holy Spirit!” (Romans 15:13) By His grace and to His glory, Rick and Melva Comments are closed.
