HOT
TIMES IN THE HIGH COUNTRY!
Summer 2002
Fire Season has begun: I arrived home from my
latest forest fire assignment last night. It was my third fire already
this season. I've been out 18 days so far in May. It looks like
another record season. Please pray for the safety of all of us,
and the opportunity to share Jesus with many. So far. I've held
2 Chapel services on the fires. I've passed out a dozen New Testaments
and shared my testimony with several firefighters and reporters.
Your prayers allow me to do fire ministry.
Here's an extra praise. To fight fires I have to pass a physical
fitness test each year. The test consists of carrying a 45# pack
for 3 miles in less than 45
minutes. Because of my preaching schedule being primarily at lower
elevations this spring, I was concerned that I might not be in good
enough condition. I passed with flying colors!
Since our last Quarterly Newsletter: I had a good
year teaching skiing and sharing Jesus, I finished another seminary
class leaving, just 2 more before I start my Doctorate. I spent
a week at "Ground Zero" serving fire and police with meals,
prayer, counseling and gave away 600 firefighter New Testaments.
I had the privilege of leading worship again for a men's retreat
at Beaver Creek, led our Fellowship of Christian Athletes outreach
at Western State. Bible studies at the ski area and discipled 10
who tool called to ministry.
Since the ski area closed: I preached for a week
in Protection, KS and then a week in Greensburg KY. Upon arriving
home I was called to a fire for 9 days. Then. Melva and I left to
preach for a week in Guthrie, OK. The Lord blessed in each place
abundantly. We are sooooo privileged to share. The Lord is answering
your prayers! The morning after we returned from OK the phone rang
and I was off to another fire. I came back for a day to preach in
a wonderful church in Pitkin CO.
Upcoming: Melva and I. will be in San Diego to
teach and preach June 22-July 1 at Horizon Christian Fellowship.
What a blessing that church is! They are reaching out all over the
world. Then it's more of fire season and the chance to share Jesus
on the lines.
Family: Melva is now "officially" working
2 hours a day for the ministry, Joy will be heading to England soon
to help with Youth With A Mission, Bekah is returning from Central
America, Steve is working to earn money for college this fall and
writing music as well as helping lead worship, and Tim is earning
money for college this fall as well. All are healthy and the Lord
is working with each of us.
Finances: After a great start, ministry Income
has slowed. We know the Lord will provide.
Prayer Requests: For the anointing of the Holy
Spirit to be upon us as we share Jesus. For safety as I travel and
fight fires. For our family to love the Lord and each other more
each day. For all the churches I preached in to continue in revival
God Bless you! WE LOVE YOU!
